DESIGN
Dell G5 15 SE is nicely furnished with coating of iridescent silver colour on it's lid that shimmers like a star when light falls on it. The lid is wide enough and the silver coloured Dell logo has been stamped over it . Endowed with supreme outlooks, who don't wanna be a part of this model even when it's knocking you at your doors at an affordable price. The interior part of the laptop is made up of black colour which you can see when you open the hood. The silver chassis highly contrasts with the black coloured deck and the jiffy when you notice the contrasting zone, you can perceive it's beauty more better and clearer. And this contrasting scenario is more visible when you lit up the RGB keyboard.
On the top left corner of the deck, G5s logo has been imprinted which lets you consider it as a brand product. The logo G5s has also been addressed at the rear part which is just a way to alter the looks and rouse the attention.
Dell G5 15 SE is bit stubby in terms of looks and measures 14.4 x 10 x 0.9 inches and weighs 5.5 pounds . 5.5 pounds is little bit heavier in comparison to its other gaming competitors such as , Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 ( 3.5 pounds ), but much lighter than Alienware Area 51m R2 ( 10 pounds ), and almost 1 pound lighter than Alienware m17 R3 ( 6.6 pounds ).
Who loves bezel less screen ? But those who already the know the charisma of bezel less screen may even enquire me in return that whether there are some who not even loves it . But, despite its charismatic view, this bezel less screen configuration has not been made a member of G5 15 SE model which might fades the desire of the people if they straight away look out with design perspective . But don't underestimate the taste of a fruit by its cover. There are more left about it that needs to explored by me.
DISPLAY
Configured with 15.6 inch 1920 x 1080 display resolution screen, Dell G5 15 SE gathers a good reputation on the grounds of screen projection capabilities. This 15.6-inched rectangular stuff produces bright and colourful display which is a part of everyone's interest. It has been speced with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Sharpness and clarity emanates from the screen along with a great detail . You will also get that model which features 60 Hz refresh rate which I have already jotted above in the Price and Specifications section .
According to the colorimeter, Dell G5 15 SE measures 108% of the sRGB color gamut surpassing the 106% gaming laptop average.
Dell G5 15 SE supports 301 nits of brightness level in their display screen which is quite an enjoyable one, although, it's unable to cross 323 nits of brightness level of Asus ROG Zephyrus G14.
PORTS
Yes we are discussing about a gaming laptop and connectivity is a desideratum feature that a gaming laptop must have in it.
Dell G5 15 SE is a laptop that facilitates good number of ports and slots.
The ports which are incorporated on the left part of the device are as follows :-
1. power jack, 2. a mini DisplayPort, 3. an HDMI 2.0 port, 4.one USB 3.1 port, 5. a dropjaw RJ45 Ethernet port, and 6. a USB Type-C port.
And on the right part,

KEYBOARD
Keyboard of Dell G5 15 SE is so-so when you count it's performance. Typing is quite smooth and responsive. However, the distance between the keys is bit larger than the average distance . Best thing is you are getting an edge-to-edge keyboard which we didn't and even won't get in several laptops.
The RGB lighting consists of four zones . Did you understand about it ? I mean about those two specific terms " four zones " . It means that the entire keyboard glows with RGB lighting , but, doesn't glows out with a single color light, rather glows out with four different colored light in four different parts including numpad . Do your want your keyboard to glow in a single static colour ? Does the keyboard of Dell G5 15 SE support that ? The answer is " Yes " , it supports. All you need to do just manipulate the settings via Alienware Command Centre Application. From there you can choose different lightning modes , i.e., Rainbow Wave, Breathing and Spectrum.
How are your fingers going to feel after touching the keys while typing ? Does these keys gonna escalate your typing mood ? Straightaway speaking, it gonna give a nice touch to your fingers as this keyboard is matte-furnished in nature.
Let's take a note on it's touchpad. Touchpad has been shifted towards left side instead of placing it on the middle which can a bit disturbing for the right handers , although, left handers will enjoy its address. Not so soft to touch and responsive in nature. Luckily, Windows 10 gestures such as three finger tabbing, two-finger scrolling etc. works well and gives razor-sharp response to your finger swipes, clicks and scrolls.
PERFORMANCE AND STORAGE
Powered by AMD Ryzen R7 4800H processor, Dell G5 15 SE becomes a face of exuberant gameplay and delivers a breakthrough even when you are busy playing tough games . Supports multitasking and clears the road for smooth running of Google Chrome tabs ( nearly 40 tabs ) and 5 YouTube videos at a time.
Not only it's CPU , rather, it's GPU is also as dynamic as a powerful GPU should be. But, which GPU does G5 15 SE get powered by ? An AMD product . AMD Radeon RX 5600m GPU with 6 GB of VRAM , the reason behind its uninterrupted gameplay, or, let say, its one of the reasons.
This GPU scores 46 fps on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey . On the Shadow of the Tomb Raider benchmark, G5 15 SE plays at 45 fps. On our Hitman test, Dell G5 15 SE scores up to 82.5 fps . On the Grand Theft Auto V benchmark, Dell G5 15 SE plays at 56 fps.
The Dell G5 15 SE transcoded a 4K video to 1080p in 6 minutes and 43 seconds on our HandBrake benchmark.
How would it be if your laptop remains cool while playing intensive games ? Yes, ofcourse it's an inviting one and everyone wants this in their device. And what would be your reaction if I say that Dell has managed to incorporate a technology in their G5 15 SE model that avoids heating issues ?
There is a technology named as Dell's Game shift technology that turns on thermal fans after you activate it . But how does it get activated ? Just you need to press " G key " ( F7 key ) while a gameplay that will automatically turn on the fan to maintain the device temperature.
Does the story end here ? No, not at all . There are more left to explain about it. Yeah , I am talking about 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD which provides ample of space for storing applications. But, their merits are not limited here. Along with storing applications, it also chisels the gaming cornerstone. I think most of you would know about the indispensability of RAM to boost up the gaming piquancy and same thing goes with that SSD .
In Dell G5 15 SE, 512 GB SSD copied 5 GB of files at the rate of 400 MBps in just 12.4 seconds.
AUDIO
Honestly, audio quality is not that good to hear. Usually, you can enjoy the clarity and acuteness of the sound, despite the fact, sometimes the sound quality declines .The sound gets torn somewhere in between playing the music. Ups and downs can be sensed in its loudness. If we are avid for 24-carat gold quality sound then the quality which we are getting in Dell G5 15 SE is surely not a consumable one. That's very sure. So what should we do further ? Should we stop thinking about enjoying good quality sound ? Or should the door of expectations remains open ? Let me make you one thing very clear. It's still possible to hear a good quality sound . What you need to do is bring a change via Alienware Command Centre Application where you will get a tab for Nahimic audio software . There are several multiple presets such as Alienware, Com, Movie, Music, Racing, Role Play, Shooter and Strategy.
BATTERY
Dell G5 15 SE's battery ran for 7 hours and 14 minutes when it was made to surf the web via Wi-Fi connection at 150 nits of brightness surpassing 4 hours and 50 minutes of average gaming laptop. It's battery time period is really good and runs for half of the day, although, it fails to cross the brink of supremacy of Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 which has run for 11 hours and 32 minutes in a battery test.
THERMAL
Dell G5 15 SE does not show any overheating symptoms. All because of its plastic used material for building it. As I have already said, you can control the temperature of the system further via Alienware Command Centre Application. Don't forget pressing " G " ( F7 key ). Yes an another mode by which you control the temperature. All these measures will keep the temperature within the boundary and , as a result, performance perpetuates .
WEBCAM
720p camera of Dell G5 15 SE cannot makes your day. The photo was not so bright and colourful and details were somehow missing on it. Suppose you wanna do a video conferencing for any international conferences or buisness meetings or something else that demands clear and good video quality then I would recommend you to buy external webcams because existing 720p won't fill up your wants.
